The film Allegiant or The Divergent Series: Allegiant – part 1 from production house Lionsgate is released in theaters nationwide, on Friday, March 18th.

This third film brings to life the story of yet another novel written by Veronica Roth as part of The Divergent series.

After the Edith Prior’s message was revealed, Tris, Four, Caleb, Peter, Christina and Tori flee from Chicago to discover what lies beyond the fence. When they get there, they discover the existence of a new society and the Bureau of Genetic Welfare, which is led by David.

The film stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort. Octavia Spencer, Miles Teller, Naomi Watts, Maggie G, Zoe Kravitz, among others. Actor Jeff Daniels joins them as the villain David. Allegiant was directed by Robert Schwentke, with a screenplay by Noah Oppenheim, Adam Cooper and Bill Collage.

Fans of the Divergent series have witnessed some magical on-screen moments between the powerful couple – Tris and Four. This time will be no different, sparks continue to fly but in a technological scenario with drones and futuristic gadgets.

Despite the plot’s evolution and the new environment, Shailene Woodley said she had no problem in returning to play Tris and maintain the chemistry with Theo James alive.

Press Pass’D: Make way for “Deadpool”, Marvel Comic’s most unconventional anti-hero

“It is natural for me. Just being on the set, wearing the clothes, being next to Theo and the whole team. Instantly, everything returns to be like if I had not been gone. I know her so well, and it’s more about discovering the history and dynamics of the plot than knowing or build Tris internally, ” said Woodley during a roundtable with Press Pass Latino in Los Angeles.

Shailene admitted that after working in three films next to Theo James, they know each other very well.

According to Woodley, it’s no longer about having chemistry or not, it’s more about letting each other feel comfortable during scenes that can be weird.

She added, “I can now look at Theo and tell when he’s uncomfortable. He can also look at me and say when I’m uncomfortable with something. We helped each other in such a unified way that when it comes to intimate situations or uncomfortable ones we are able to leave the set comfortable for ourselves.”

Actor Theo James joined the roundtable with Press Pass Latino via phone, while he was in London filming another movie.

When asked what the secret to keeping chemistry between the characters alive on-screen, his one-word answer made the room erupt in laughter.

“Viagra,” he joked.

“No, actually you have to study,” he added. “You need to make sure that you are questioning the decision of the characters, what is written in the script and do it all the time and always ask how the two characters interact.”

Allegiant, the third installment in the Divergent Series can be considered as the most ambitious movie of the three when it comes to the special effects component.

This time around, they used the effects to create a larger and more modern environment. James and the rest of the cast, interacted with technology that was not actually there.

The actors admitted that battling droids and robots was a challenge.

“There were a lot of green screens,” said James. “We could not see the robots and had to visualize and imagine a lot of it. In other films, it was more real, more grounded in terms of use of technology and this went to a different environment and space.”

Actress Zoe Kravitz, who also starred in Allegiant, was part of the roundtable as well, and shared her feelings on the special effects applied to the film.

Press Pass’D: Michael Pena on ‘Ant-Man’, ‘Ant-Man 2’ and being funny in real life

“I think there’s certain magic that happens when we come into contact with this type of imagination, it helps us hold onto our childhood,” said Kravitz.

“There was this voice inside my head saying it does not seem right, I’ll look like an idiot. You have to cross your fingers and believe that when everything is filmed, the effects are applied and seem more real but I think the final result was really good.”

What do you think? Will you be going to theaters to watch Allegiant?
