Floral prints, gingham and fringe dominate New York Fashion Week runways
It was a busy weekend in the Big Apple as the city hosted the world famous New York Fashion Week and set the stage for couture fashion designers to debut their Spring/Summer 2015 collections. This year floral prints, gingham and fringe dominated the catwalk. Let me fill you in on the trending styles for this Spring and Summer:
Rebecca Minkoff’s collection made us all forget how cold it was outside on the streets of New York. Minkoff’s New York Fashion Week collection was inspired by Patti Smith and it was made completely clear on the runway. The 70’s-inspired boho collection featured lots of suede and fringe handbags, flowy pastel dresses, skirts and pants. Her collection is perfect for warm, tropical climates like those of Hawaii, Puerto Rico or Miami.
I liked most of the collections at this year’s New York Fashion Week but I have to say I’m just head over heels for the Michael Kors Spring 2015 collection. The 50’s-inspired Spring collection was full of playful textures and fabric combinations, blooming florals, waist-accentuating belts and playful, detailed transparency pieces which are the key features in his spring 2015 collection. It’s very reminiscent of a more feminine time in fashion and as a self-proclaimed girly girl, I love it!
The Michael Kors Spring collection carried versatile shades, like light grays and khakis, creams and navy blues. Almost all the looks from the first one up to the end were accessorized with leather belts and comfy cool flats and sandals. In three words this collection is chic, classy and effortless and was a total hit at New York Fashion Week.
I have to admit that Diane Von Furstenberg is probably one of my favorite designers right now. Her collections are always youthful, vibrant and crafted with the modern woman in mind. Once again, we saw lots of gingham, bright floral colors and stripes. Her collection featured lots of gingham dresses, tons of bra tops, and beautiful shear skirts which means this Spring you’ll be showing a whole lot of leg and you won’t have to have been at New York Fashion Week to do it!
