There might be a Mighty Morphin comeback in the works! Yes, my friends! The Power Rangers might just make it back to the big screen!

The Los Angeles Times reported that Lionsgate and licensing entity Saban brands will be taking over the project which will bring the five high school friends every 90’s kid grew up watching, back to television.

They’re hoping to produce another live-action movie based on the juggernaut of a television show, The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Tuning in to the Power Rangers, who dressed up in cool different-colored suits,  was a way of life for most generation Y kids, with every Saturday morning usually consisting of a bowl of Fruity Pebbles and their television sets glued to Channel 3.

If you had cable, of course.

Lionsgate and Saban brands said they will maintain the characters from the previous show.

The LA Times, quoted both companies as stating, “With an extensive and extremely devoted worldwide fan base as well as a deep and detailed mythology, the Power Rangers are primed for the big screen.”

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers franchise is centered around an ordinary group of high-schoolers who gain individual superpowers that are equally impressive but combined are even more powerful.

The Power Rangers have to combine there powers to form a Zord, which is a colossal mechanical or biomechanical robot, that is summoned to face enemies that grow to large for them to fight individually.

The Power Rangers franchise has changed hands many times since it was created over two decades ago and has also had various screen incarnations.

It remains to be seen how popular these remakes of  new movies like “G.I. Joe” and its two installments as well as the “Ninja Turtles” to see if it has the same influence they once had on an earlier generation.

It’s safe to say this movie will be released at a good time, with other movies aimed at younger audiences such as these testing the waters, it will hopefully propel the Power Rangers to success once again.
