Cinematic Gems snubbed at the 2015 Golden Globes

The Golden Globes are not as snobby an awards show as The Oscars; they usually get it right when it comes to recognizing the best in T.V and film. However, there were some questionable decisions made by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

No Gone Girl, Interstellar or American Sniper up for Best Picture and as for the T.V categories it’s clear that the future of T.V is here as Netflix and HBO racked up 22 nominations between the two, leaving cable in the dust.

But I’ve got you covered, I’ve compiled a list letting you what’s hot despite not being recognized tonight by The Hollywood Foreign Press:

Gone Girl

David Fincher does it again. Gone Girl was a great, dark, and intensely-crafted film. The most talked about film of the year by far! It received nods for Best Director (David Fincher), Best Actress (Rosamund Pike) who was literally scary good, and Screenplay (Gillian Flynn). Still, Gone Girl was missing from the Best Picture category.

Interstellar

Director Christopher Nolan’s new age space epic was his first Non-Batman film in four years, and was dismissed and didn’t make the cut on Best Picture and Best Director nominations.

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey has been on a hot streak for the past few years, fresh off an Oscar winning performance in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’. The ‘Interstellar’ star was also snubbed for a Best Actor nomination, although he was recognized for his role in HBO’s ‘True Detective’.

Amy Poehler

Returning Golden Globes Co-host, Amy Poehler didn’t receive a nomination for Best Actress in a T.V Series or comedy for her role as The City Council woman ‘Leslie Knope’ after winning a Golden Globe award in that the category last year.

Modern Family

Wholesome cable family T.V sitcoms just can’t compete with boobs and “F bombs” anymore. The T.V. Comedy category was loaded with HBO, Netflix, and Amazon shows like “Orange is the New Black”, “Girls”, “Transparent”, “Silicon Valley” and the freshman CW series “Jane the Virgin”.

Inherent Vice

Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1960’s stone age film about a hippie private investigator didn’t obtain a Golden Globe award nomination and was also left off the SAG awards.

American Sniper

Clint Eastwoods’s war drama based on Chris Kyle’s bestselling memoir about the most lethal sniper in U.S military history was his best film since ‘Gran Torino’ investigator was boxed out of the Best Picture category by heavyweights like ‘Boyhood’, ‘Foxcatcher’, ‘The Imitation Game’, ‘Selma’, and ‘The Theory of Everything’.

Bradley Cooper

Hollywood loves it when actors transform their bodies for a movie role, but that wasn’t the case for ‘American Sniper’s Bradley Cooper who slapped on 40 pounds to play Navy Seal Chris Kyle and was still overlooked for a Best Actor nomination for this year’s Golden Globe awards.

Walking Dead

The ratings monster “The Walking Dead” proved once again that the biggest show on T.V. isn’t necessarily considered as one of the BEST shows on T.V. Though the series did revive itself from the dead in season 5, after a disappointing trip to ‘Terminus’ last season, but The Hollywood Foreign Press shows no love for America’s long time zombie obsession. “The Walking Dead” has only been nominated for a Golden Globe award once.

Unbroken

Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut came out with a zero nominations, not even a Screenplay nomination for award show darlings The Coen brothers. I hope Angelina Jolie didn’t spend too much time looking for award show dresses.
