By now everyone’s watched Danny Trejo’s incarnation of The Brady Bunch’s Marcia Brady in the Snickers “You’re not you when you when you’re hungry”‘ TV spot which aired during Sunday’s Super Bowl XLIX.

And if you haven’t watched it, you’ve definitely heard of it as thousands of viewers and Danny Trejo fans rushed to social media to hail the commercial as possibly being “the best Super Bowl commercial this year.”

Now, it’s been officially announced as the inaugural Super Clio for the best commercial in Sunday’s big game.

The 30-second ad was produced by ad agency BBDO New York and was released as a teasers by Snickers on January 21st. The teaser for the commercial generated 2.5 million hits on social media networks Facebook and Twitter and consumers demanded to see the ad prior to the Super Bowl’s kickoff in February.

This spurred the early release of the full commercial on January 29th.

According to a statement released by the CLIO awards, judges chose the commercial for “originality, innovation and stand-out celebrity cameos.”

Other competitors ranked close but Danny Trejo took the win, maybe it was the swinging of his machete that stuck fear into the judges hearts?

I guess we can’t be sure but according to Clio, judges chose the commercial for “originality, innovation and stand-out celebrity cameos.”

Loctite’s “Positive Feelings” by Fallon, Minneapolis, Always’ “#LikeAGirl” by Leo Burnett, Chicago and Nomore.org’s official NFL Super Bowl ad by Grey, New York were honorable mentions closely behind the first place winner, the Snickers ad featuring Trejo as well as actor Steve Buscemi.

As for us, we have no complaints “Way to go Machete!”
