With Valentine’s day approaching fast, some of you single ladies might be feeling bitter and blue. If that’s you, stop pouting right now, because Friday, February 13th is Galentine’s Day!
Galentine’s Day was coined by Leslie Knope, played by comedic actress Amy Poehler, on the hit NBC comedy Parks and Recreation. While Valentine’s Day is about celebrating your boyfriend or girlfriend, Galentine’s is about celebrating your gals.
This year, thanks to one of my friends who suggested it, I’ll be celebrating my very first Galentine’s Day. Even if you’re not single, it’s a great way to make your friends feel special.
Here are five ways you can celebrate Galentine’s Day with your girl friends:
The original Leslie Knope style
If the day lands on a weekend, especially a Sunday, brunch is definitely the way to go. Ladies love a Mimosa! If you plan on going out for brunch, don’t forget to make a reservation ahead of time. If you host your own brunch, check out Pinterest for Galentine’s Day brunch ideas.
Invite the girls over for wine, cheese, and fondue. You can play fun games and watch your favorite chick flicks. Easy and fun and who doesn’t love wine? Plus, you know how it is when you get together with your best girls, there’s always something to talk about and the laughs are never far behind.
Wine was a must for my circle of friends. We found great deals in our area on sites like Groupon, Living Social, and Google Offers. Like I said earlier, who doesn’t love wine? Plus giving a nice bottle of wine to your best girlfriend simply means more fun get-togethers in the future.

As you’ve probably noticed by now, Galentine’s Day is a nationally recognized excuse for girl time. Why not relax at a spa? Treat yourselves to a massage, get your nails done, and lay out by the pool while enjoying your favorite cocktail.
